Vitamin Executive to Help University of Baltimore Marketing Students Prepare for “Real World”
Baltimore, Md. — November 7, 2005
Amanda Karfakis, vice president of communications for Vitamin®, was recently selected as a panel participant for the University of Baltimore’s "Careers in Marketing" event on November 16, 2005.
Karfakis, a marketing and PR expert with more than 10 years of industry experience, will explore a number of topics with students, including effective ways of approaching potential employers, do’s and don’ts of job interviews, and the skills required for being successful in the agency environment.
“Vitamin looks for employees who are dedicated, motivated to learn, work well as a team and individually, and have a ’something special’ that makes them standout from other candidates,” says Karfakis. "By speaking with students, like those at UB, we hope to help guide the younger generations and prepare them for the workplace so they understand the values and characteristics that firm’s like ours are looking for in entry-level employees.”
Karfakis graduated from Towson University with a degree in business and marketing and a minor in Spanish. She landed a job with one of the country’s top 100 design firms, Gr8, before graduating, and was appointed to the position of PR director within four months. When Gr8 closed shop in 2001, she moved on to Planit, Inc. There, she launched and managed the PR department, overseeing its growth into a highly profitable enterprise within her four-year managership at the agency. Today, Karfakis delivers proven business savvy to Vitamin’s growing list of clients, and she spearheads the firm’s strategic development, new business, and public relations initiatives.
