Vitamin Adds Two American Design Awards to its Growing List of Honors

Baltimore, Md. — Feb. 28, 2005

Vitamin®, a boutique design-web-PR firm focused on enhancing brand perception through identity, print and interactive marketing materials-has won two awards from American Design Awards.

American Design Awards recognizes individual artists, graphic design firms and companies that value the art of visual communication on an ongoing basis, through fair judging criteria by real-life design professionals.

Out of 1,203 entries, the organization selected 69 winners. Vitamin received a Platinum Award for creating www.marshallcraft.com, the corporate web site for Marshall Craft Associates, a Baltimore-based architectural firm. The site features Flash-based navigation and a fully dynamic portfolio of more than 60 projects organized by vertical market.

Vitamin also won a Gold Award for its own web site, www.vitaminisgood.com (circa '05). That site, also recognized by the Advertising Association of Baltimore with a 2004 ADDY Award for interactive marketing, features art work inspired by elementary school text book art.

“We are honored to win the American Design Awards and to be recognized for the high degree of our creativity and originality,” said Michael Karfakis, president and CEO of Vitamin. "The awards we’ve won further prove Vitamin’s distinct ability to create marketing programs that stand out among our clients’-and our own-competitors.”

Previously, Vitamin won Certificates of Excellence from the Advertising Association of Baltimore for www.kinggimp.com and www.apio.com. Kinggimp.com is the web site for Dan Keplinger, a nationally recognized artist who was the main subject and writer of the Oscar® award winning documentary, “King Gimp." Apioinc.com is the corporate site for Apio Inc., which markets a full line fresh-cut vegetables under the Eat Smart® and Dole® brands.

Last year, Vitamin also won the Silver Merit Award from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International’s Adrian Awards Competition, the largest and most prestigious travel event of its kind in the world. This contest attracted more than 1,500 entries from 50 countries and destinations around the world, with entries judged by teams of experts from all sectors of the industry.

Vitamin conceptualized and created an HTML e-mail/board game promotion-to acquire 2,500 new subscribers for the Baltimore Area Convention & Visitors Association’s monthly newsletter. The e-mail highlights Baltimore’s unique attractions and entices individuals to sign up for a free trip. It was received by approximately 24,000 individuals, of which 2,563 became new subscribers and more than 3,600 entered the free trip contest.
