Vitamin Launches Online Face for Keep ’Em Cookin’

Baltimore, Md. — February, 2, 2009

Design-web-PR firm Vitamin^® has launched the web site for Keep ’Em Cookin’ -- www.keepemcookin.com -- an educational organization that gives pregnant women the greatest opportunity to carry their babies to full-term by providing the most current information and offering online community support.

“Vitamin designed the web site for Keep ’Em Cookin’ with one very specific goal in mind—to give expectant mothers a comforting and friendly place to learn about the risks of preterm birth,” says Michael Karfakis, Chief Operating Officer of Vitamin. “The challenge we had was to turn an intimidating and information-rich topic into an encouraging and easy-to-understand experience.”

Vitamin designed the look of KeepEmCookin.com to be light, approachable and straightforward. The site includes a forum for expectant mothers and fathers, as well as current news, articles and resources on preterm birth. For ease of keeping the site’s content fresh, Vitamin implemented a custom content management system, enabling the staff at Keep ’Em Cookin’ to update the content daily.

Keep ’Em Cookin’ was established by Angela Davids, a mother in Baltimore, Md. who brought two of her babies to full-term despite several episodes of preterm labor with each pregnancy. Davids was on bed rest during her pregnancies, and like many women on extended bed rest, she experienced boredom and frustration, and multiple pregnancy-related health issues. While recovering from preeclampsia and acute kidney failure after the birth of her son, Davids decided to create a community to help other women with pregnancy complications.

Davids says, “By sharing my story and by creating a community for all women at risk of preterm birth, I hope that together we can prevent as many preterm births as possible.” She continues, “Vitamin has helped make this a realistic goal, by designing a clean, appealing, and easy-to-navigate web site. The team at Vitamin has turned my vision into a reality that goes beyond what I ever imagined.”
