King Gimp
Artist’s Portfolio Web Site Design
Visit Project: www.kinggimp.com
This site serves as Dan Keplingers (aka King Gimp) "virtual voice." It tells his intriguing story of living life as an artist dealing with cerebral palsy. His paintings provide the connective tissue of the site, with each section owing its color pallet to the handful of works that are set into their respective backgrounds. The gallery section, containing art hand selected by Dan, delivers each image with a subtle Flash treatment that allows the power of Dans work to take precedence over the sites aesthetic and the web medium itself.
About King Gimp
Subject and writer of the 1999 Oscar Award winning documentary King Gimp, Dan Keplinger is a compelling artist fighting an ongoing battle with Cerebral Palsy. He creates his art using a head-stick and requires the aide of an interpreter to communicate with those that are not used to speaking with him. He has been featured in various programs on the Discovery Channel, and HBO. Since garnering national attention with an Academy Award winning film, Dans work is on display and brokered exclusively by the Phyllis Kind Gallery in SoHo, NY. Dan currently resides in Baltimore, MD where he continues to paint, study, take on speaking engagements and bring public awareness to accessible arts.
